SAVE THE DATE! The Annual Community Christmas Potluck and Photo Contest is December 1

The St. Joseph Island Hunters and Anglers Club invites all members, friends and neighbours to our annual Christmas Potluck and Photo Contest.  The doors open and social hour begins at 5:00 p.m.  Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m.  After dinner, plan on lingering for games and visiting.  Please bring your favourite dish to share, a donation to the Island Food Bank and your favourite beverage.  Saturday, December 1, at the Conservation Centre.

 

AWE REGISTRATION CONTINUES UNTIL OCTOBER 10TH

AWE Awesome Women’s Experience is October 20th this year.  Join us for a fun-filled day of Quest, Tomahawk Throwing, learning Forest and Wildlife Management and Fly Fishing.  The day includes all meals and equipment.  Registration closes on October 10th.  Members $90.00 and non-members $100.00.

See Local Celebrities on TV Show Homegrown Hunter

See local ‘celebrities,’ Nathan Coombs and Larry Skinkle with Steve Elmy of Rack Stacker, on next week’s episode of Homegrown Hunter.  Last January, the episode was filmed.  It airs on Wild TV from Tuesday through Sunday September 4 to 9, at the following times:

  •     Tuesday 7:00 a.m.
  •     Wednesday 1:30 p.m.
  •      Thursday 6:00 p.m.
  •      Saturday 1:30 a.m.
  •      Sunday 9:30 p.m.

ANNUAL MEETING WITH THE MNRF, THURSDAY

On Thursday August 9, the General Meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. with an outdoor, potluck dinner.  The gate will be open by 5:00 p.m.  As in past years, officials and staff of the MNRF will be our guests.  They will be present to answer and comment on any questions that you may have about hunting, angling, wildlife management, outdoor safety and conservation.  The August informal get-together with the MNRF has been a highlight of our summers.  You won’t want to miss attending this year!  Non-member guests are welcome.
Please bring your favourite dish to share and a beverage of your choice.  There are benches, but you may want to bring a lawn chair.  The Conservation Centre will be open if the weather prevents sitting outdoors.

Friday, July 27, at 4:00 p.m.: Volunteers needed in the food booths at the Richards Landing Community Night

Saturday, July 28, at 8:00 a.m.: Volunteers needed in the Deer Tales Booth at the Boat Races and Car Show in Hilton Beach

The Fifth Annual Island Fishing Derby is June 30 to July 8

2018 LEADER BOARD

 

The Fifth Annual Island Fishing Derby is the first week of July and coincides with the free Family Fishing Week in Ontario.  Registration will take place at the Conservation Centre beginning Friday, June 29 at noon and fishing will begin at 6:00 a.m. on June 30th.  Registration closes at noon June 30th.   The Derby will close at noon on Sunday July 8th.  An awards dinner with presentations will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 8th.  Cash awards will be given for the largest fish in each species category.  Mystery prizes will be revealed at the dinner and presentations.
