Ice Safety tips:

• Check ice thickness and conditions frequently
• Clear ice should be a minimum of 10cm (4”) for walking and ice fishing, 12cm (5”) for one
  snowmobile or ATV, 20-30cm (8-12”) for a car or small pickup, 30-38cm (12-15”) for a medium truck

• Fish with a buddy
• Be prepared for an emergency – wear ice picks or a floater/survival suit, and have a whistle and
  cell phone on hand
• Let someone know where you will be and when you plan to return. This should include where your
  vehicle will be parked, what route you plan to take and any stops you plan to make
• Stay off rivers and away from locks, where ice is less stable. Ice conditions in areas of moving
  water or spring fed lakes can be unsafe at any time, ensure the ice is safe before venturing out.

The first meeting of 2024 is on Thursday, January 11, at 7:30 p.m. On the agenda are updates on the Wild Game Dinner planning, and notice of the the first planning meeting on January 16th, for the Outdoor and Gun Show on May 5th.

The Club has a new P.A. system. Paul Glassford, as guest speaker, will introduce the speaker system to Club members. Please join us.

Ticket sales for the 28th Annual Wild Game Dinner on January 27th. will be at the Conservation Centre on January 6th, at 8:00 a.m. The Wild Game Dinner is a great event; every one of the past 27 years has been a sold-out event. Tickets are sold as first-come first-served, so arrive early to make sure you are one of “the first come.”

Ticket sales are in-person only and only on January 6th. Tickets are $60.00 per person. There is a maximum of 8 tickets per person purchasing. As there is no internet, please plan to pay by cash or cheque only.

Please note, the General Membership Meeting is Thursday, November 2nd, at 7:30 p.m. at the Conservation Centre. This is a week earlier than the regular schedule. The Board has made this change to accommodate members who will be away hunting.

The 28th Annual Wild Game Dinner is Saturday, January 27th. At 5:00 p.m. the doors at the Royal Canadian Legion in Richards Landing will open. The Bar and appetizers are served at 5:00 p.m. for the Dinner. Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m. The evening will include auctions and raffles. Please add your contact information to your tickets.

St. Joseph Hunters and Anglers are pleased to announce the new Chairs of the event. John Paterson and John Peluch. A huge thank you is extended to Ross Bishop for his many years of management of the event.

SJI Hunters and Anglers are hosting the PAL and Hunter Safety course at the SJI Conservation Centre, on October 27th evening through October 29th. Register soon before seats fill: Perry’s Gun and Bow shop for registration

POTLUCK AND Q&A CHAT WITH THE MNRF at the Hunters and Anglers Conservation Centre, at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, August 10th. Members, new members and guests are welcome. The Club will provide burgers, sausage, and the fireside. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share, and your beverage.
